The Courtyard Brewery is a place to go when you want to relax, drink an incredible selection of brews, and feel at home right away. The owner and his wife are truly passionate about what they have built and it shows with the quality beers the produce and the level of service you receive. No matter what your palette preference is, they will have something to satisfy your buds, guaranteed. And all of this comes at the best price in town- no more breaking the bank to have quality draft beer at in an awesome setting. If you enjoy incredible brews on tap, incredible owners who care about what they serve and how they serve it, this neighborhood feeling brewery is for you. So call into work to take a day for yourself, and enjoy a tasty brew at Courtyard. Cheers Y'all !

Awesome brew, awesome setting. Such a relaxing place. One of the owners, Scott makes you feel like your hanging at a backyard party...it's so inviting. So much fun! Love this place and the beer selection is amazing. They are true artists of their craft. Go check it out!!!!!!

Love Love Love! Met some friends there for the first time and absolutely cannot wait to go back soon

Their beers made me come faster than a $50 whore. They have a fantastic tap list and the service is wonderful. I asked if they do half pints or flights and they said, "We can if you like" It's hard to get better service than that!

Great hang spot with a wonderful taste of craft beers. They have a really good selection of guest taps & their own brews in the works. I chatted quite a bit with the owners and the bartender about life, love and the pursuit of good beer. Very friendly place and a great addition to New Orleans. If you like craft beer be sure to stop by this place - you won't be disappointed!
(5)Greg D.
Excellent beer. They clearly have a good plan for a small breweey. They were very kind with advice and style samplers. The beer is top notch. As a guy who visits every possible beer co (this is 247th brewery) I love this place. Very good beer even if food is outsourced. If you are in NOLA do this place before you do the NOLA tour. Food was by food truck. Mamitos NOLA was the food. Top notch CA style tacos.

What's not to love? Perfect and spotless glassware, great selection of beers, and a killer courtyard. I'll be coming here often!

Ultra casual and low key "bar" in an LGD industrial building just off Magazine Street with about 30 taps and an unfinished space populated with plastic chairs and a couple makeshift "tables" as well as one actual card table. There are some outdoor tables and chairs as well when the weather is nice but this is generally a place to come with some friends or on a date rather than by yourself. Beer selections and glassware are very good and prices are typically $4-6 per beer (usually a 16oz pour), and they have food trucks in the courtyard every day except Monday & Tuesday. Just be aware that most of the beers have a high alcohol content and you'll also feel it more with a 16oz pour than your standard 12oz can or bottle so a couple glasses is plenty for most people. Overall, this is a great new addition to the neighborhood and seems to draw a mix of people that are sometimes a bit more refined yet more hip crowd than your average beer bar. It's not really a bar, more like an underground beer tasting room that's as serious about their craft and "nano" brews as you might expect at a high end wine bar. Not a ton of creature comforts, but a great new spot on a previously under-used stretch of Magazine Street.

Casual brewery with ever changing taps of original brews and guest beers. A strong west coast inspired selection. Great atmosphere for groups, great prices. brewmaster is a welcoming nerd. Business seems to be booming and will need more seating soon. Delicious food trucks Wednesday-Sunday until around 9ish. A complete, worthwhile experience.
(5)Jeremy H.
I spoke with the brewmaster for quite a while. As of now they still have craft beer selections from around the world, but in about 2 weeks their own brews will be offered on tap. Eventually all of the taps will be their own creations. I cannot wait for the opportunity to try some of their stuff. There is one really creepy piece of art with a guy in bed saying "catching baby death" look for it

BLUF: I love this place. I love the beer; theirs and others. I love the people. I love the atmosphere. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because there is very very limited seating. I love the grittiness of the area. Just on the cusp of lower garden/CBD. It is a gravel parking lot (which may or may not be for patrons) so plan on parking on side streets. The beer is in the back. About 20 on tap and then they have some bottles. If you go there and get a Bud Light you should be asked to leave. They probably dont even have it. Lesser known beers but still recognizable for the most part. You probably wont find 90% anywhere else in the city so that is a plus. They also have 2-3 personal brews that are really good too (new ones all the time). The beers are usually served in specialized glass that fits that beer which is nice. Once you have your beer you'll likely be standing or sitting on a curb unless it is a slow period. The few tables (old construction copper spools) they have sit just a couple people. In my opinion this lack of seating really hurts the place. If people hadnt left and I eventually get a place to sit I would probably leave after the first beer. I am not a huge fan of standing for long periods of time. There is a ton of space there but they have cars parked there. They should clear the cars out and put up a bunch of tables. They also have food trucks either on property or close by so you can easily get some food too. Def an awesome place.

Very casual, quite fun out of the way place in the lower garden district. I dropped in to hide from the rain and got amazing service and wonderful beer selection too. The three beers of thier own making were delicious and the variety, about 30 taps plus a selection of cans and bottles meant there was something for almost any one. Other things of note: no food options but food trucks pull into the parking lot and they're darn good. They have a great record collection to play, just ask. Also the staff are amazing. Russel gave great advice on the beer and places to go next. He also knew every regular who came in and just what they were looking for. This is definitely a place worth spending time in.
(5)Roxanne C.
I tried. They tried. I just don't like beer. The bartender was super helpful in trying to find the right beer for me, giving me sample after sample. We eventually decided on a raspberry beer mixed with a beer with more of a sour taste. It wasn't bad, but after about 5 sips, I was completely over it. If I could have done it over again, I would have just gotten a cider, but I wanted to be bold, and was just disappointed as I always am when it comes to beer. Other than that, the staff is super friendly and helpful. If you want to start getting into drinking beer or are already a beer lover, this is the place to go. I'm just not a fan.

I live really close to Courtyard and come here often. I love that it is super casual and people who hang out here just want to drink good beer. Their beers are really good - as someone who lived in SD for a long time (where Scott the owner/brewer is from), I am happy drinking anything that they brew. That Sonic Youth one is probably my favorite. But really, I haven't had a stinker yet. In addition to their beer, they have a nicely curated selection on tap and in bottles and cans. I love that they get a lot of West Coast beers in addition to beers from other small breweries in the area. Something for everyone for sure. The food truck schedule is also a plus - Taceaux Loceaux, Saigon Slims and St. Clairs Pizza are all top quality noshes. Pro trip: get a plastic growler which holds 2 beers for your to-go beer pleasure.

This place is pretty fantastic. Nice and knowledgable staff. Beers are cold and diverse. Weird ambiance, but hey...it's a brewery/tap room...not a restaurant. Grab a chair and make shift table and enjoy kinda place. Live music makes this place extra special.

I am so excited! Owners Lindsay and Scott have been working SO HARD on opening their own brewery and tap room. The day has finally come and I am so excited that I got to be a part of it! First of all, the brewery is small, but it's gorgeous. There are 12 taps of all different types of beer that are all reasonably priced and Russell is the fantastic bartender who is serving them to you. Not only are they going to be serving "visiting" beers, but they are also going to be brewing and serving their own beer, which is beyond exciting. This city doesn't have enough breweries serving up really good craft beer. Courtyard Brewery is helping to solve that problem. When you are hanging out here, you really feel as if you are among friends. I met a bunch of people that I had never met before and we all got along great because we are all beer lovers. Courtyard Brewery is a welcome addition to the New Orleans beer scene. I am so excited to experience it and I am so excited to go back!
(5)Mallory R.
Good beer. Lots to choose from and laid back environment! If you don't like beer, then don't come here. This place if for craft beer lovers!

Coming from the craft brew mecca that is San Diego, I had to scope out what NOLA had to offer. This little gem is found in the Garden District of NOLA and is a MUST for all beer enthusiasts. They have at least 24 (if not more) beers on draft and in bottle/can to try from all over the country. We went with their Baby IPA and the Nelson, which were phenomenal. He tried their stout next and I went with another brewery's porter. Very affordable and all of the staff and patrons were very friendly to two first timers in NOLA. Will definitely be back in the future!
(5)Laura B.
The bartender here was really nice. It would be cool if they added a little more furniture outside. I did feel a little funny sitting in a parking lot but the beer here made it worth it so who really cares.
(5)Meghana P.
This place is literally a hole in the wall, but it was one of my favourite discoveries of my trip to New Orleans. The atmosphere was wonderful, with a casual setting and selection of fantastic records for the listening. I didn't get to check out the food trucks, but I have heard they are amazing. The staff is also incredibly friendly and accommodating and willing to take the time to help people discover their favourite beers. They have a great selection of beers that aren't just from Courtyard, and we arrived at mid-afternoon on a Thursday, which was a good time if you can manage it as the place wasn't too crowded.

The Courtyard Brewery may be brand-new, but they know what they're doing. This is the way to open your own brewery: * Start small (three-barrel system, also known as a nano-brewery). This allows you to change your menu frequently, and ensures that your beer is fresh. * Locate your premises in a trendy industrial area (Erato Street in the lower Garden District, with a nice view of the highway). * Decorate your space with lots of metal and wood, to fit in with your industrial location, but with lots of style as well. * Staff it with two owners, Scott and Lindsay, who are really knowledgeable about beer without being snobby about it. * Have food trucks stop by regularly. * Make some great beer. They had two of their own brews on tap the nights we stopped by. The Courtyard Mike was a reddish pale ale brewed with Palisade hops, hibiscus, and wheat. (This particular brew was inspired by the owner's brother who likes pale ales and Mexican hibiscus soda.) The Courtyard Mosaic was a 7.5% IPA with Mosaic and Amarillo hops. (The Courtyard Brewery likes to experiment with new recipes, but so far has been leaning toward IPAs, saisons, Belgian styles, and brown ales.) * Offer "guest" brews from other craft breweries around the country on the remainder of your 19 taps, so that your patrons will never go thirsty while they're waiting to see what your next batch will be. This is the only craft brewery I've ever been to that also features other beers besides their own. It's a great way to encourage experimentation! If you're serious about good beer or just want to expand your beer taste buds a bit, The Courtyard Brewery is a definite must the next time you visit New Orleans!

Living nearby, I have been here several times already. Most of their beers are really good. It is between two of my places, Eleven79, and the old "Bridge Bar" Most nights, they have food trucks, and they are the really good ones. "Dive" décor, some off-street parking, young crowd; wish they were open Mondays, when Eleven79 is closed. Try it; I like it ! Rick

New Orleans is a strange place that doesn't always make sense. That's probably the best explanation as to why a brand new brewery in a tiny space with minimal financial backing is the best beer bar in the city, and, now, is making some of the best beer in the state. The space is open and cool, decorated and designed with some style. Wood, metal, and concrete. The tap list has a good variety but also shows some actual thought and planning - something many other bars could be doing a little more of. Pricing is extremely reasonable for the type of product you're getting. The lines are clean and maintained, as is the glassware. The staff is laid back and the opposite of pretentious. If you're remotely interested in beer or just curious about what you're drinking, these guys can actually give you an intelligent explanation. It's nice to have a bar where the bartenders actually know the product. Sometimes they have cool events and food. Black label BBQ operates out of barrel proof and will deliver to the brewery so that's pretty awesome. If you're in New Orleans and remotely enjoy beer you need to stop by and enjoy the best beer drinking experience in the city. As more of their in-house beers roll out that will make this even more of a destination. Go check them out today.

I know, I know, I KNOW. They just opened. Guess what though? I LOVED IT. Im waiting anxiously to sample their actual brews (damn legalities) but in the meantime I have no problem sipping some classy brews they have hand chosen for my pleasure. And my pleasure alone. As is usually the case. The first night was packed with some funky folks getting their sippy sippy on. That includes me and my wife. When we heard they were opening on our block we decided to go introduce ourselves. ...if you know what I mean? Short story long: Drank some great brews. Taceaux Loceaux was present and accounted for...they may be a regular sight there. Bakers Dozen was also present and accounted for...they had a table, errr, mountain of free donuts there. (if you know me - thats a huge plus - Im a declared donut slut) All in all though, a great and much needed addition to my hood. Now I have more than one place to make an ass of myself. You're welcome Barrel Proof.
(5)Shannon S.
They have some of their own beers and have some beers from other places. Their brewery made beers seem to all start at $5 and go up so these are some more expensive local beers by my standard of Abita. The beer I had from the Courtyard Brewery had some kick too it and smelled of some strong alcohol content so I guess you at least get your money's worth of alcohol in the beer here. The courtyard environment is alright and they often have a food truck so you can have a snack. The real downfall of this place for me is they have very early closing times and I'm a night owl that doesn't like early closing times and this place is often closed before I'm even thinking of going out. This place reminds me a lot of some of the Austin, TX food truck parks that have proliferated in that city.

Great beer selections. Especially hosting more than 4 San Diego breweries. I took the green line street car from Canal St. It's a mellow location, their staff is friendly and they offer weekly food trucks. I recommend to craft beerers for sure.

I am so happy to see this love child finally come to fruition! I've known Scott and Lindsay for a few years now and they are such awesome people, but beyond that, they know their beer! The design and decor are well done and every time I go, I look forward to seeing something new and quirky. I like the family and dog friendly vibe. They have a great lineup of offerings, which have all been guest pours on my visit. However, I know they just released their own brews next week so I'll have to get there again soon!
(5)Douchy M.
A very welcome addition to the new orleans brewing scene! One caveat, though, one must actually enjoy and want to drink beer if you really want to fully appreciate the experience, (Roxanne c, perhaps you would be more at home in a WHINEry than a BREWery, it seems to be more your style.) Scott and team are extremely enthusiastic, and love the challenge of matching and mixing to exhibit and enhance beers. Great place to hang out, but then again, I like meeting people, having fun, and experiencing really cool beers in ways I hadn't thought of before. Glamour shot models may have slightly different experiences.

Waaaaait...fooooorrrr......iiiiiiiiit....., and you might get served if you don't run out of patience or die of thirst. First bar I have ever been to in my drinking career that I waited in a line, like at a baseball game line, a line that I imagine they make you wait in in hell. Please for the love of God retire Dwight Yoakam and hire a couple of FASTER bartenders. Great beer, great courtyard, good vibe and the food trucks don't disappoint. Just maybe have a bigger sense of urgency when 10 people are lined up like school kids on a lunch line. Thank you!
(3)Johanna C.
What an awesome bar! All the bartenders were extremely friendly, the space is low-key, and the "play your own record" space is a brilliant addition to the overall neighborhood hang out vibe. Russell gave us great neighborhood tips, and not only did he know the names of most of the regulars (and there were a lot of regulars) but he also knew their preferred beer styles. Pretty impressive. The food truck for the evening was also delicious- great smoked wings. Definitely planning to return the next time I'm in New Orleans.
(5)Christopher J.
I'm not a big beer fan, but this place was able to give me a couple beers I enjoyed. The space isn't huge, but there is a TON of outdoor space begging to be utilized. They just opened, so I am excited to see how they utilize the outdoor space and for their new homebrews.
(4)Andrew R.
Yo! They take cards now & have chairs. Oh and have food trucks coming on the reg now. Best bar in the city right now and poised to be the best brewery in the city I'm sure!
(5)Carly G.
If you were to picture the perfect place to drink a beer, this place is exactly what you'd imagine. Finally New Orleans is producing quality beer. And it doesn't hurt that the owner, Scott, is the shit. Best brewery in town. If you're not there by the end of reading this post, you're doing it wrong.
(5)Lindsay A.
Courtyard Brewery is a place that I just knew I'd be spending a lot of time, after the visit during the Yelp event and being in the neighborhood I frequent, but I have really yet to spend a night hanging out there. I'm so glad my friend brought it up this weekend! After getting full on The Big Cheesy, we drove over to Courtyard and had a great New Orleans spring evening. This is such a great place to gather with your friends, chill, drink beer, and enjoy each other's company. Lindsay and Scott have made this a great spot in the neighborhood and are such gracious and fun hosts. The group tried most of the menu, including all the beers that they produce themselves. Everyone was happy with their beers and even happier that we could spend time and just talk in a comfortable environment outside on a beautiful evening. There was a food truck (with a pizza oven in it!) so those of us who needed more dinner were able to eat as well. We did get lucky in some aspect because according to the owners, it was a slow Saturday. Well lucky us! It seemed pretty full to me but not so many people that you couldn't hear your own conversation. It was lovely. I highly recommend this place if you're looking to enjoy beer, the weather, and good company.
(5)D Z.
Really cool people and really great beer. Stumbled upon this place earlier today. They weren't open yet, but were happy to let me relax and chat. Scott, the owner and head brewer, was really great to talk to and very knowledgeable about breweries all over the US. I had the Desolation Ain't So Bad "double red" strong ale and it was outstanding. As a beer nerd, I really appreciate a good double red and this is one of the best I've had. The dry hopped trippel was so good, I lugged a growler 1 mile back to the hotel in the Louisiana summer heat. They had a large selection of other breweries beers on tap. This is a top knotch craft beer bar that is heavy on the hops. Probably not for the Natty Ice or cocktail crowd.
(5)Patrick W.
Some great beers. I love the system too. I think it appeals to the industrialist in me even if it has tiles and wood.
(4)Mallory M.
Such a great selection! Scott, man in charge, was very helpful and had excellent suggestions considering your personal likings. He helped us create our own flight and we got more than enough beer for our money. And naturally the beers were awesome. Best hidden gem in New Orleans! We were only here for 24 hours and this was by far my favorite stop.
(5)Debra W.
Awesome place for a variety of craft beers. While lacking in gourmet dining, it is made up with great conversation and fantastic beer. I really enjoyed the casual atmosphere and can't believe someone would knock off one star because of seating. Great place and highly recommended.
(5)G. B.
As far as micro breweries go, this place is low budget, no frills. As for the tasting room it's definitely basic. Just an open loading dock with a few plastic chairs and cable reels for tables. Some outside patio seating too. They just had two of their beers on tap and some other guest beers as well. Their IPA was quite good. I recommend giving them your support. They'll get better.
